Disastrous in some words. My job interview that is...
Well, the worst thing that can happen is that I do not learn from this experience. As such, I am writing down some of my experiences.
1. I need to research more about the company and job position that I am applying for.
2. I need to be able to communicate my transferable skills that I have obtained from other jobs into the position that is being offered.
3. I need to be able to give a very clear reason why I left my previous job.
4. I need to be able to explain how I have skills that can be useful to the organisation.
I suck at interviews. Hopefully, I won't be attending so many interviews that a book is published here. The four points listed above are just some of the learning points from today's interview.

ReplyDeleteHi FF,
ReplyDeleteI went for a few interviews before I managed to get into my current company.
Here's some tips for you.
1. Emphasize on your relevant & transferable skills.
2. Be honest & sincere
3. Speak with confidence & humility. Never be too over confident.
4. It is always good to run through in your head what you intend to say before going for the interview. ie. projects u did, teams you lead, supervisory skills, improvements you did, etc...
Just to let u know, I was hired not because I had the relevant background but because I showed the desire to learn & I was very honest about having no experience in that role. It also helped that I emphasized with examples to the interviewer that I was a fast learner.
I have since transferred twice internally and have just started in my third role/team since joining this institution.
Cheers
I said wanted to pursue my interest in other areas as that job wasn't for me. I guess most employers will surely ask that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gohsip for the very good tip
