I have received dividends from my holdings in Kingboard and China Aviation Oil. It is a small amount of $62.02 and $140.00 respectively.
With the $315.00 that I collected from Capitaland earlier in the month, the total amount of dividends for May 2010 is $517.02.
I have also been using the coin deposit machine by POSB to deposit all my loose change into a POSBKids Account for my child's university education fund. Thus far, I have accumulated slightly over $2500 including money from red packets received during Chinese New Year.
Considering that it is still a long way more, I think I still have time to save up more in the future. But at the current rate I am going, the education fund will probably only hit $50K plus when it needs to be utilised.
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI am kinda of interested in the China Aviation Oil (CAO).
May I know how does the purchases of this stock go about? And so far how the dividends rate so far? (quarterly or annually)?
Look forward to your prompt reply.
Hi Yong Lim,
ReplyDeletePurchases of the stock must be done in terms of 1000 shares minimum per transaction. That works out to be around $1270++ based on today's price of $1.27.
You will need a brokerage account and a CDP account to make the purchase. There are a lot of brokerages around so do shop around for the cheapest one. I use UOB Kay Hian. It is not the cheapest.
SO far, dividends have been paid mostly annually. Some years, no dividends were paid.
2006 was US$0.014 per share
2007 was US$0.049 per share
2008 was US$0.0131 per share
Do take note of the scandal that CAO has gone through and how investors might tend to shun S-shares because of all the accountability issues.
Hi FF,
ReplyDeleteWhy are you interested in CAO? Care to share?
Hi LP,
ReplyDeleteMy reason for buying into China Aviation Oil:
1. Temasek is an investor. I trust the brains at Temasek.
2. It has a monopoly of the procuring jet fuel oil for Pudong Airport.
3. Growth in China ought to translate to growth in aviation travel. Singapore is planning up to 6 airport terminals. The same should apply for China and would benefit China Aviation Oil.
Just these 3 main reasons. I bought into it after the scandal by the way.
Hi FF,
ReplyDeleteOk. I wouldn't touch it, but that's just me. I'm not impressed with anything to do with the aviation industry.
Best of luck!
Heh. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't touch aviation too. But this is an indirect exposure I guess.
